Land grabs threaten to destroy the declining dynasty
Scenario
When the huge Lawson cattle station has no heir, rival factions in Australia see an opportunity to take control. The series was filmed throughout the Northern Territory and South Australia in remote locations barely inhabited, let alone on screen. Locations include Kakadu National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site by special permission from the traditional owners, and Tipperary Station, a real-life cattle station so big it has its own airport and school.
Which can lead to a beautiful stage drama
There are shows that you start watching and have high hopes for. This show is about a family that owns a large amount of land in the hinterlands of Oz. The land and its charisma are unfortunately ruined by an extremely bad script.
There are too many crime stories and dramas, which are again poorly written
It has overly dramatic characters that border on caricatures, and too many completely unbelievable things happen. While as a viewer, you want to be captivated by a story about a family whose characters are deep and complex. They try to do that, but the characters can’t create a family that you get involved with.
Apparently people shoot, rob and hurt each other in Australia all the time
So I really wanted to like it, but the writers made this a second-rate crime thriller that doesn’t deserve high ratings despite some great actors. However, I will be hoping for a second season if they tone down the drama and violence and let some smart people write. They have a foundation with the sets and a good cast to build on.
