Scenario
It follows Rupert Campbell-Black and Tony Baddingham, who have a long-running rivalry that comes to a head. Coincidentally, Aidan Turner has previously filmed at Chavenage House (Priory in Rivals). The same filming location was also used to depict Trenwith House in the 2015 BBC TV adaptation of Poldark. I’m laughing at some of the reviews, apparently from readers who take themselves too seriously. This is an adaptation of Jill Cooper. It’s not a series to be intellectualised or morally judged. It’s so much fun. Great cast. Yes, RCB’s hair and eyes are the wrong colour. So is Taggie’s hair. But it works. Somehow. RCB will disappoint some for that reason. But Alex Hassell captures everything else about him. Danny Dyer is perfect. David Tennant is, as always, OUTSTANDING. And Aidan Turner is just wonderful, even if he’s a little young to play Declan. He falters a little in the last third. But yeah. It’s great fun. You watch it all in one go.
