While everyone loves to joke and make memes about Sonyverse villains (web-lady is excusable), I actually applaud what they brought to the table that the MCU didn’t even dare. Their films, while a little strange, had individuality, ambition, and brutality. We wouldn’t have found that in a cookie-cutter MCU.
Kraven and Venom are the best, and Kraven started a huge boom
In the comics, Kraven is a cool and calculating savage with style. They couldn’t have picked a better actor for the role than Aaron Taylor-Johnson. His impressive style is on display here in all its brutal glory.
Not every comic book movie needs 100 subplots and character tie-ins
The addition of the legendary Crowe is also a great facet to the overall story. While the story is very in your face and a bit simple, it has to have character. The action is absolutely insane and will blow your mind constantly.
There’s CGI, but it really doesn’t take away from the overall product
I actually think they beat Venom with this one, and that’s saying something, because Venom is so underrated. It’s a shame we may not get more stand-alone villains in the Sonyverse, but it’ll still be a solid action flick to look back on.
