Tale
Author and rehabilitation therapist Terry Masear wants to save every injured hummingbird in Los Angeles. Terry takes in the weakest patients as part of her volunteer hummingbird rescue, but the road to survival is fraught with uncertainty and drama. Over the course of Sally Aitken’s intimate and moving documentary, we engage with Terry’s hummingbird patients – including Cactus, Jimmy, Wasabi, Raisin and Mikhail – as they celebrate their small victories and lament their small tragedies. Through the eyes of America’s most diligent avian rehabilitator, each bird becomes unforgettable, powerful and heroic. As she nurses the injured hummingbirds back to health, Terry embarks on her own transformative journey, telling a visually captivating and magical story of love, healing and the delicate beauty in small, big acts.
