Eva (Odessa Young), a 19th-century widow, is faced with an impossible choice when a ship sinks off the coast of her isolated fishing village in the middle of a particularly brutal winter. Eva and her crew must choose between saving the castaways or surviving the winter on their last food. Faced with the consequences of their choices and suffering from their guilt, the inhabitants face a growing sense of dread, beginning to believe that everyone is being punished for their choices.
