But after episode 1, I can confirm that this series is fantastic (so far)
I thought Colin Farrell was great as the Penguin in Batman, but I never understood why they would put a skinny, handsome, buff actor in a giant prosthetic and fat suit… especially since I think he resembles other famous actors who would have been just as good. I also didn’t really understand why this spinoff came out, and to be honest, I’m just sick of Batman reboots.
But I didn’t expect to like it nearly as much
I only watched it because I knew it had to be seen as a bridge between the first and second films, and because I surprisingly liked Farrell in the role in the first one. The acting is terrific, the writing is superb, and I was surprised with some quick twists. What I liked most was that there was so much more color here than in Batman.
I hope it continues to be this good, because I really can’t wait for the next installment
