The series shifts the setting to the current era
Scenario
Jackal is an invisible killer who makes his living by committing murders for the highest amount of money. He soon meets his worthy rival in a tough British intelligence officer who pursues him on an epic cat-and-mouse chase across Europe. The novel “The Day of the Jackal” is set in 1963 and concerns an assassination attempt on then French President Charles de Gaulle.
Remake of The Day of the Jackal (1973)
I like what they were trying to do. In today’s world of security cameras, camera phones and social media, the Internet and facial recognition, communication surveillance, digital transactions, etc., how can a murderer remain anonymous and undetected? Etc.
There’s a lot to like in every episode
The attempt is incomplete, but please name me a successful series or movie, and I’ll watch it immediately. However, the central story narrative is interrupted by the inclusion of Agent M16’s family drama, which feels like a filler to satisfy the formulaic script “principle”. I am skipping these unnecessary scenes to keep the main plot moving along.
I’m halfway through episode 4 and appreciate the effort and intent
Also, love the neck scarf bender to the original movie and the sniper rifle’s update – the suspension of disbelief is turned up to 11, not to mention the fact that this goes through airport x-ray screening, the magical supersonic bullet silencer, and the invulnerability of no one. Smells like a recently used firearm 🙂 Shh…don’t tell me about the bullets. Still, imperfect but I’ll wait until the end and appreciate the effort, and look forward to the choices they made to tell a compelling story.
And I watch anything with Charles Dance
It’s a blessing to find him in this.. A new season of "Silo" One of the biggest TV and streaming premieres of the month. Check out our November calendar for more!
